eventDr. Chaochung Peng Visits IPNL

IPNL welcomed Dr. Chaochung Peng from the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan, for an academic exchange visit. Dr. Peng is a recognized researcher in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), with expertise spanning GNSS receiver design, signal processing, and high-precision positioning techniques. NCKU is one of Taiwan’s leading research universities and has maintained a strong tradition in satellite navigation and geodetic research.
The visit centered on discussions about the latest developments in GNSS positioning technology, including multi-constellation receiver architectures, real-time kinematic (RTK) processing, and strategies for mitigating signal degradation in challenging environments. Dr. Peng and the IPNL team exchanged perspectives on how different regional GNSS augmentation systems and infrastructure can be leveraged to improve positioning performance across the Asia-Pacific region.
The academic exchange between IPNL at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and NCKU reflects the growing importance of cross-institutional collaboration in advancing GNSS research. With complementary strengths in urban GNSS positioning, integrity monitoring, and receiver-level signal processing, both groups identified opportunities for future joint work and student exchange. IPNL values such visits as a means to strengthen ties within the broader GNSS research community across the region.
